Prince Ekpen Erediauwa from the Benin Kingdom was in Cannock, West midlands, this weekend to attend the birthday celebration of an Illustrious Edo son in Diaspora, Mr Taiye Garrick. The prince said this birthday is very important for the community- it will give Edos in the UK with good initiatives a positive role model to look at in Mr Taiye Garrick.
Mr Taiye Garrick is from Edo State, The Garrick memorial family. He is a successful hardworking Nigerian role model in the UK Nigerian Diaspora Community. He employs Nigerians and Edo people in his care homes in the Midland areas of the United Kingdom.
In their conversation, Prince Ekpen Erediauwa explained to Mr Garrick the need to support initiatives that will foster unity amongst Edos in diaspora and bring our children into the Edo Community. Caring for our elders by way of visits, support those teaching Edo language, support causes at home, support our Edo diaspora generations, support our community media, visit Edos in hospitals and prisons etc- to generally bring awareness to issues affecting our community and encourage our Edo champions in diaspora. He finished off saying the Edo community is the UK diaspora is free flowing due to community champions who contribute not only their time, but finances too. They need encouragement.
Taiye Garrick promised to support Prince Ekpen Erediauwa in his drive to assist the Edo Community in Diaspora and at home. He also noted that Edo community interactions and activities in the Uk diaspora have improved recently since Prince Ekpen Erediauwa got involved to support the community- A trend Taiye confessed has made him very happy and can help the Edo community towards more relevance in the United Kingdom.
