When suddenly you find yourself in new surroundings, music has a way of reminding you of your
original identity. When you heard it, how you heard it, how often, a lot of memories. Today in the
diaspora, with the children becoming British teenagers, one will humbly discover that music when
you were growing up, is now a big part of your history and development.
Lately, after the 360 of partying, many Nigerians in diaspora now see Karaoke as more involving than
Nigerian parties, and picking up the microphone is more liberating for Nigerian bonding. It just
carries the right essence once it’s done right, enter Mez Lounge.
Mez Lounge Karaoke hosted by Debbie Frank & Queen Mercillina are doing the new thing, bringing
Nigerian parents in the UK out to perform and dance to the music they grew up with. In 2023 we
have seen The Ladies of London LOL and many great performances at the Edo Connect Karaoke
Nights held at Mez Lounge. Lace from Edo Connect Media says, when people know each other
before, it makes for Karaoke of great memories and of course, great potential.
Mez Lounge Karaoke by Debbie Frank & Queen Mercillina is on every Thursday 8pm-11pm
