It is worth recalling that Emeka Nwogbo and his mother, the owner of the school, were arrested after the death of a 19-month-old student at their school.
The victim’s mother, Gift Ohaeze, had claimed that her late son had been beaten like a goat by three teachers at the school. She noted that Emeka whipped her son 31 times with a stick, which allegedly resulted in his death.
However, speaking to reporters after a state government delegation visited the state police command today, Emeka said he whipped the late Obinna “like a baby.”
“I did not kill the child, the child was not killed by my hand, I caned him as I’m supposed to flog a child, I flogged him as little as I can”, he said.
When asked why he whipped the little boy, Emeka replied that Obinna was punished for hitting another kid.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Ari Muhammed Ali said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the deceased child.
