Nigerian Football League: BENDEL INSURANCE PLAYERS ATTACKED:

Reports reaching ChrisOsaMedia has confirmed an attack on Bendel insurance of Benin by Remo stars of Ikenne- Remo, Ogun state, the host team after a tight goalless draw

One of the Bendel Insurance striker Mr. Charles Omokaro confirmed this attack to ChrisOsaMedia, he said that players and supporters of Remo stars were already angry after they were unable to get a goal in their home despite the woeful loss they suffered in Benin when they played away against Bendel Insurance.

Also in a statement obtained by ChrisOsaMedia.Com, from a member of the Edo state Sports Unit Mr. Sixtus Omokhagbor, he narrated the ordeal as eye witness to all that transpired.

  • In his words “The match Day 21 between Remo Stars Fc vs Bendel Insurance at the Remo Ikenne Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State on Sunday 6th June 2021 ended in a goalless situation till 90 minutes regulation time. The referee added 7 minutes extra time. At the 5th minutes of added time, our goalkeeper parried a goal bound shot to a corner kick that gave him injury and was on the ground, he removed his gloves, and Sariki Ismail Insurance player picked the gloves, the centre referee gave him a red card

The fans and players in hurrying him out of the pitch because they saw him as wasting time attacked him and other players and chased them away from the pitch. The two video cameras of Insurance were seized and have it deleted all the match proceedings” as stated by Mr. Omokhagbor.

Players and workers of Bendel insurance sustained various level of injuries and were seen been chased out of the football premises by the home team as they ran helter-skelter for their lives, and finally some were able to use the fence.

Attempts to reach the management of Remo starts proved abortive.
